Dawncaster, the popular mobile RPG card game with over 250,000 downloads, is officially coming to Steam on February 6, 2026. It will launch on Windows, macOS, and Linux with a price of $19.99, which immediately puts it on the radar for Steam Deck players.
If the name rings a bell, that’s because Dawncaster has already built a strong following on iOS and Android. It blends traditional RPG progression with fast paced deckbuilding, aiming to give card choices the same weight as story decisions.
The developers at Wanderlost Interactive describe it as an attempt to treat card mechanics and RPG storytelling as equals rather than leaning too hard into one side. Your build, your cards, and your choices shape how each run plays out, with encounters and outcomes changing as you go.
From a Steam Deck point of view, there are a few encouraging signs. Dawncaster is launching with full Linux support and full controller support, which usually translates well to handheld play. Given its card based structure and turn driven pacing, it already feels like a natural fit for Deck style sessions.
Content wise, there’s a lot here. The game includes over 1,100 cards, more than 100 enemies, hidden bosses, and multiple modes including draft style runs, weekly challenges, and difficulty modifiers. There are no class locked cards either, so experimentation and broken builds are clearly part of the design.
It’s also refreshing to see a few firm stances from the developers. No AI generated art, no microtransactions, and no premium currency systems. What you buy is the full game.
Dawncaster has reviewed very well on mobile too, with strong scores from Pocket Gamer UK, 148Apps, and Minireview. That doesn’t guarantee a perfect PC version, but it’s a solid starting point.
If you’re a big Slay the Spire fan, this is one to keep an eye on. It looks like it’s aiming for that same sweet spot of deep systems, high replayability, and runs that feel different every time.
